Cats are the members of the Felidae family of carnivorous mammals. All Lions, Tigers, Leopards, Jaguar, and African wild cats belongs to the cat family. Their relatives are Civets, Hyenas and the Mongoose. What we generally recognize as cat is the domestic cat.

Cats and humans have dated back about 4000 to 7000 years ago. The relationship between and humans has been a very long and loving one. Cats are being dragged into satanic ritual beliefs, and unlucky black cat tags to being cute and cuddly pets and have seen it all. Cats have also been associated with death and witchcraft and bad omens. On the other hand there have been cultures like Vikings who worshipped the Goddess Freya, the goddess of fertility, who was associated to cats. Today cats are among the best of pets we can have. Cat appears in the Vietnamese and Chinese Zodiac systems. They are highly respected in Islam due to the fact that it is believed that Prophet Mohammed approved domestication of cat. Feeding a cat is considered a great deed in Islam.

Cats are extremely intelligent. They communicate through purring, hissing and gestures. The cat have 32 muscles in their ears, this is why they have a sharp sense of hearing. By sleeping for long durations cats can conserve their energy.

When a cat jumps it usually lands on their feet, due to a a very good sense of balance and great flexibility. Their tail helps to regulate the angular momentum during their flight in a fall. ]Cats are some of the most popular pets around the world.

Cats walk on their toes. They manipulate their walk to make minimum sound and they leave negligible tracks. Cats have very excellent eyesight and senses which are matched by no other animal. They also have very good nocturnal eyesight. They have a field view of 200 degrees. The cat's whiskers assist them in navigation. Interestingly cats cannot taste sugary foods for they have faulty sweet receptors.

Cats are sometimes very fussy eaters.Not that won't eat but just one food, they won't eat anything they aren't intrested in. My cats have sometimes left a full plate of a food, even they are hungry! yet they are known to eat grass, leaves, shrubs and houseplants but sometimes they'll only eat only the specific food which they get used to. Many cats desire a change of diet, so vary the flavor of their food.
