An aquarium is made of glass or strong plastic and is made for holding fish, amphibians or any other type of marine animal. Fish can be tropical (salt water) or fresh water. you can even have corals. A very important factor is that the aquarium has to be able to maintain the weight of the water that will be put into the tank. Aquariums has been a very popular one of the leading hobbies around.

Aquariums range in size, they can be simple gold fish bowls or they can be intensive set up to nine feet wide. Fish collecting is especially popular in countries like Japan and has been a hobby for years. The Japanese are renowned for keeping coldwater fish such as koi in decorative ponds outside, these koi are basically beautifully giant decorated goldfish.

The word aquarium comes from the Latin word, "aqua" meaning water, and the suffix "rium" meaning place or building. Aquariums look beautiful and good anywhere. An aquarium need a lot of time, effort and devotion. This is not the type of hobby that you can just start and leave. This is an on going type of project that needs to be constantly assessed and adjusted.

The fish inside the aquarium need to be fed. The aquarium represent their natural habitat and they need space, so you have to get a large enough aquarium to fit the fish. Aquariums do need a lot of work and attention . This hobby is good for young people. It teaches them responsibility to care for the fish. This hobby is for someone to be willing and responsible enough for all the things that are required when setting up and maintaining an aquarium.

An aquarium can be the most beautiful and peaceful thing to look at if they are decorated nicely and kept clean. It is a great job to make sure that the aquarium looks just like the creature's natural habitat. Just make sure that you are ready to take on the responsibility before investing in an aquarium as they are also quite expensive!
